The DVLA Established in 1973, the DVLA or Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency under the DOT, holds all records of drivers and vehicles registered in all of UK. This agency is the governing body for all Private, Personal and Cherished number plates and registered marks. It enforces very strict registration guidelines that changes twice a year. The main DVLA office is located in Swansea and it is currently holding in its database, a total of 40,000,000 drivers' license and 30,000,000 vehicle licenses. This agency also operates to retain and transfer registrations from one vehicle or another, or hold the certificates for safekeeping.
